William Has a Birthday!
Sir William of HillCroft is now a yearling!
He received well wishes from the clients and staff at HillCroft to celebrate his year one actual birth date. As you can see, William stands tall and alert – inquisitive about the sign on his door as Karol McCarty leads him out for a better look.
The next year of this life will include many new experiences. He has started lunging in the indoor with trainer Sally Bauder He is learning to stand patiently on the cross-ties for grooming. William has already shown good manners when the farrier and vet come.
The spring and summer will bring trips to the wash stall to keep him cool on hot summer days and clean after work sessions. He will have walks on the lead line around the farm for exposure to a wider environment.
The year will also include training in how to enter and exit a trailer with grace and compliance.
Ears up at attention as William wonders if spring will ever arrive!
Nose’n around with pal Colby
Raleigh discusses the ways of the world in the great outdoors for a yearling in training.
. . . and the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.
Yes, William – We are watching you having fun with Raleigh and Colby. Young horses need time to feel the sun on their backs, learn the etiquette of the herd from older horses and how to play such games as halter tag – bringing “horse play” and “horsing around” to another whole level!
